India's HRD ministry has approved a new plan under which graduate and post-graduate students getting government scholarships will be assessed through an online test every month.
The proposal also seeks to increase the number of students under the scholarship programme from 17,000 to 2 lakh. The ministry has submitted the plan to the Planning Commission and asked for a financial sanction of Rs 1,800 crore over five years.
According to Hindustan Times
report, the monthly online tests will be conducted by the HRD ministry portal Sakshat. With this, the ministry wants to ensure that students do not drop out and maintain a steady academic record.
