Rs 100,000 Cr is the estimated overall cost of the Digital India programme.
The Ministry of Urban Development in India has launched the e-Gazette
to help citizens access and obtain the Gazetted notifications issued by the government online on payment of the prescribed price of that notification.
The e-Gazette will also help the media, social activists and many users for various other purposes like research, court cases and settlement of legal documents to a great extent, the Union Minister for Urban Development Jaipal Reddy said.
As part of the modern state of art e-governance concept, the Minister said that e-Gazette will empower citizens and bona fide users as knowledge is power.
Once operationalised, it will reduce the time lag as well as facilitate easy accessibility for the bonafide users all over the country without having to undergo tedious travel.
The Ministry has developed the platform with the help of National Informatics Centre (NIC) and NICSI to maintain Gazette notifications
date-wise, month-wise, part-wise and subject-wise belonging to the central government and the Government of NCT of Delhi.
The e-Gazette is expected to bring in more dividends and ensure easy accessibility to the purchaser without their undergoing the rigours of reaching out to the sale counters of the Department of Publication in the Ministry of Urban Development.
