New Delhi: India will establish three facilities to supply fuel to new nuclear power plants in the country.

Chief Executive Officer of the Nuclear Fuel Complex (NFC), Hyderabad R N Jayaraj said this in New Delhi on Thursday. He said, three new nuclear fuel complexes would be established at Kota in Rajasthan by 2015-16.

The Nuclear Fuel Complex will supply fuel to four Pressurised Heavy Water Reactors being built at neighbouring Rawatbhata and Kakrapar in Gujarat.

The NFC was established in 1971 as a major industrial unit of the Department of Atomic Energy to supply nuclear fuel bundles and reactor core components.

Presently, the NFC, Hyderabad fabricates fuel for all the existing 20 nuclear power plants operated by the Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL).
