Patna: The Government of India has set up Bihar's first Software Technology Park (STPI) in Patna, complete with state-of-the-art facilities for reliable, high speed data connectivity through statellite earth station and radio communication. The STPI facility, coming up at Patliputra Industrial Area in Patna, will also act as a resource centre for software exporting units by providing incubation facilities, besides helping entrepreneurs in the state to set up their facility within STPI and in making a beginning to boost IT exports from the state. Recently, the state government had announced working on six major e-Governance initiatives worth Rs 160 crore with Tata Consultancy services (TCS), all of which will give boost to IT investment in the state. STPI is set up by the Department of Communication and Information Technology in India, with the objective of encouraging, promoting and boosting the software exports from India, and the Patna centre will help in boosting state's revenue and also incubating entrepreneurs in the state.  —iGovernment Bureau
