There are 65 ministers in the Modi Government
Ranchi: Emboldened by the steps initiated to popularise the use of information technology, the Jharkhand government has embarked upon an ambitious project to roll out the e-Governance mechanism to Panchayat level.
As part of the Union Ministry of Panchayati Raj plan, the state government has proposed to implement the e-Panchayat Mission Mode Project (MMP) on pilot basis in five districts.
The project will address all core aspects of Panchayats’ functioning like planning, monitoring, implementation, budgeting, accounting and social auditing.
The districts where pilot project, under e-Panchayat MMP, is being rolled out include Ranchi, East Sighbhum, Ramgarh, Hazaribagh, Dhanbad, Gumla, Latehar and Bokaro.
Out of the 11 core common software applications, which collectively constitute the Panchayat Enterprise Suite (PES), the State government had picked up PRIASoft and PlanPlus programme to roll out MMP scheme at Gram Panchayat levels.
As many as 300 functionaries of Panchayat bodies and over 380 functionaries of elected bodies were trained on basic information communication technology (ICT) operations last fiscal.
The Centre had released Rs 3.89 crore to Jharkhand as initial grant for the purpose. IT Secretary NN Sinha, however, admitted that PES adoption is not complete in all gram Panchayats due to absence of proper power supply and total computerisation in the state.
