Punjab launches online admissions for ITIs
The new website would also help candidates seek information regarding admissions, reservations and details of available seats
Govt IT spending in India to reach $7.2 bn by 2015
CHANDIGARH, December 20: The Punjab government has introduced an online admissions process with regard to all government and private Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) in the state.
Candidates would have to register themselves on www.itipunjab.nic.in
for online admissions. Three rounds of counselling would be held during January and February 2014. The new website would also help candidates seek information regarding admissions, reservations and details of available seats.
The Department of Technical Education & Industrial Training would soon launch a special aptitude test for students seeking admission to ITIs, to help them evaluate their strengths in trade specialisation before admissions. The department’s Principal Secretary A.R. Talwar has said that the Punjab government is all set to interconnect all ITIs for greater transparency and accountability.
Meanwhile, the Industries and Commerce and Technical Education Minister Madan Mohan Mittal has handed over appointment letters to 76 newly-selected Service Provider Trainers to meet the faculty's needs in 34 upgraded ITIs across the state.
Since Punjab is seeking major investments in the industries sector, the Technical Education department is trying to provide highly-skilled labour to fulfill the future needs of the sector.
