J&K gets 760 new road projects under PMGSY

An estimated Rs 1500 crore would be spent on the construction of the roads which is aimed at connecting the remotest parts of the state to the highways

Jammu: The Government of India has approved 760 road projects under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna (PMGSY) phase –VII for the border state of Jammu and Kashmir. An estimated Rs 1500 crore would be spent on the construction of the roads.

The state government has decided to adopt three pronged strategies to settle issues like forest clearances, land acquisition matters and compensation cases for early execution of different developmental projects, a government official said.

Out of this, 65 new road projects would be executed in Rajouri district at a total cost of Rs 184 crore. It will add 225 kms of new road length to the district.

The execution of 20 new roads and bridges projects at an estimated cost of Rs. 45 crore has already been kicked off in Rajouri constituency.
