Raghupati appointed SSC Chairman

NK Raghupati, a 1975 batch Indian Administrative Services officer has been appointed as Chairman of Staff Selection Commission (SSC)

New Delhi: NK Raghupati, a 1975 batch Indian Administrative Services (IAS) officer of West Bengal cadre has been appointed as Chairman of Staff Selection Commission (SSC).

His appointment was on Tuesday approved by the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet.

 Besides Raghupati, six other senior bureaucrats at the centre were also transferred and promoted by the government.

The Committee has also approved in-situ elevation of Rajwant Sandhu, a 1975-batch (Himachal Pradesh) officer as Special Secretary, Ministry of Panchayati Raj.

Among other appointments of 1975-batch are A K Upadhyaya, a Bihar cadre officer, as Special Secretary in the Ministry of Agriculture and B S Meena of Maharashtra cadre as Special Secretary and Financial Adviser in the Ministry of Steel.

From the 1977-batch IAS officers, the Committee has approved appointment of Padamvir Singh (Madhya Pradesh) as Joint Director Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration, Mussoriee in the rank and pay of Additional Secretary and S K Srivastava as Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Labour and Employment.

The Committee has also approved the appointment of Jamini K Sharma, a 1975-batch IAS of MP cadre, holding the post of Joint Secretary in Ministry of Textiles on compulsory wait in the rank and pay of Secretary with effect from May 16.
