Bihar’s first open jail to come up in Buxar

Altogether 104 life convicts would be housed with their families in 13 double storied apartments built on the Buxar central jail campus

Patna: Bihar government has decided to start an open jail for the first time in Buxar central jail.
The purpose is to allow the prisoners to socialise and adjust to the world outside so that they can lead a happy life after their release.

The government will select 104 life convicts from jails all over the state, who have a few years left of imprisonment and have overall good character during the period of incarceration to house them in the open prison with their family members.

The State Prisons Department will bear the expenses of the prisoner while the prisoner will bear the expenses of his family.

Altogether 13 double storied apartments with two room flats on each floor are getting the final touches to house such inmates on the central jail campus.
