Patna: The Bihar government, in its new scheme, has decided to provide loan-cum-assistance to farmers, unemployed youth and milk producers to purchase milch animals of improved variety.
Around 11000 such animals brought from Punjab and Haryana will be distributed among the farmers.
Animal Husbandry and Fisheries minister, Ram Narayan Mandal said the scheme would be launched in Samastipur district in May end.
Mandal also apprised the officials of the work progress of three ongoing projects being implemented jointly by the government and COMPFED in Bihar Sharif, Dehri-on-Sone and Banka district.
The first project includes a dairy plant with installation capacity of 4 lakh litre milk per day, a powder milk plant having capacity of 30 metric ton per day and a tetra pack plant with capacity of 1500 litre per day.
The second project is a dairy project plant with capacity of 1 lakh litre per day and the third project includes a chilling and milk packing plant with capacity of 10,000 litre per day. All the projects are nearing completion, Department’s Principal Secretary Amitabh Verma said.
