Haryana police stations to go online by 2011

State Chief Secretary Urvashi Gulati has been entrusted to monitor the work of interlinking the police stations

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has decided to invest Rs 48 crore to bring all 250 police stations in the state online. The project of interlining the police stations via Internet will be completed by 2011.

“The computer facility has been provided in all police stations. The first phase of work of interlinking has been completed. The record of all criminals will be made available online so that they could be arrested without any delay by knowing their criminal history in any police station” Haryana Minister of State for Home Gopal Kanda said.

He added a committee had been constituted under the chairmanship of state Chief Secretary Urvashi Gulati to monitor the work of interlinking the police stations.

Besides this, to maintain good relations with public, a model police station has been set up in each district. More than 24 police stations have so far been made ISO certified.

For registration of complaints, a complaint window system has been started in all the police stations under which all complaints are registered in computers. The complainants are provided complaint number and receipt so that they can keep a track of their complaints.

Kanda also informed that village-level community committees had been constituted in all villages falling under each police station so as to resolve the complaints at the primary level.

Cases which were not covered under any criminal category were being handed over to the committees for quick redressal through mutual consent.
