Himachal annual plan pegged at Rs 3,000 Cr

The social sector has been given top priority by allocating Rs 1010.79 crore, which is 33 per cent of the total plan outlay

New Delhi: The annual plan of Himachal Pradesh has been fixed at Rs 3,000 crore for 2010-11, which is Rs 300 crore more than the plan size of the current fiscal.
 
The plan was finalised at a meeting between Planning Commission Deputy Chairman Montek Singh Ahluwalia and Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal.
 
Montek Singh complimented the state government for fiscal discipline and human development initiatives. Appreciating the state government’s initiatives for creating employment opportunities, Montek Singh pointed out that a monitoring mechanism for employment sector, both in public and private sector, be set up.

He further said that the state government should focus on improving tourism and horticulture as these sectors have immense revenue generation potential. He also appreciated efforts to encourage organic farming in the state.

The social sector has been given top priority by allocating Rs 1010.79 crore, which is 33 per cent of the total plan outlay.

This includes funds for creation of infrastructure and health sectors to bring quality improvement in delivery system.

Transport and communication sectors have been allocated 19.63 per cent allocation. The transport and communications have been allocated Rs 588.93 crore. The allocation under this sector also highlights the resolution of the state to expand the rail infrastructure.

The 3rd priority goes to the energy sector by making a provision of Rs 354.37 crore which is 11.81 per cent of the total allocation. This includes loan of Rs 190.00 crores and equity of Rs 100.00 crores to four ADB assisted projects allotted to HP Power Corporation.
