India automating emigration process

It will bring significant changes in processes and technology resulting in improvement in the overall experience of an emigrant worker

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs is planning to automate Emigration Department in the country and is aiming at transforming the department by simplifying and making it transparent.

For automating the emigration process, the ministry is focusing on three things. First, the ministry is analysing deficiency in the existing emigration system. Second, the Ministry is focusing on Business Process Re-Engineering for implementation of the project. Third, the ministry is focusing on design, development, implementation, operation and maintenance services which would be implemented on a public private partnership (PPP) basis.

Recently, based on the technical parameters in the design report, a ‘Request for Proposal’ has been issued inviting offers for implementation of the Project including providing hardware, software and networking for the entire project.

The emigration project will bring significant changes in processes and technology which will result in significant improvement in the overall experience of an emigrant worker by enhancing quality of service at all emigrant counters.

The project will also enable better enforcement of regulatory compliance and service delivery standards of recruiters and help prevent illegal recruitment and the exploitation of workers thereby helping security agencies to track all emigrant workers.

The emigration automation will establish interfaces among key stakeholders that are easy to access and introduce systems that simplify different processes in the emigration cycle and improve their effectiveness.
