Migrant Resource Centre set up in Haryana

It will disseminate information about legal migration to Europe and the risks involved in illegal migration

Chandigarh: The Haryana government has set up a Migrant Resource Centre (MRC) in Panchkula near here to disseminate information about legal migration to Europe and the risks involved in illegal migration.

This is the first MRC in the north India and third in the country after Kerala and Andhra Pradesh. It has been set up in collaboration with the ministry of Overseas Indian Affairs and International Organisation for Migration (IOM).

Labour Minister Mahender Partap Singh said here on Wednesday the MRC at the Overseas Placement Bureau will educate prospective migrants about the various opportunities available in the European Union countries and about the requirements and conditions that they need to fulfill.

"There is a telephonic helpline and anyone can walk in for counseling at the centre. People can contact from any place in India at the toll free number 18001802038," Singh said, reports IANS.
