MP farmers to get soil health certificates

It will help them overcome shortage of nutrients in their soils and determine the cycle of profitable crops

Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh farmers will be given soil health certificates in the next two years to help them determine the cycle of profitable crops, an official said.

The certificates will be provided to the farmers after conducting tests on the soils of their respective fields. Efforts will be made to ensure two crops in maximum areas. Special programmes will be launched in all the districts to help farmers increase their income, he said.

The decision was taken on the directive of Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan at a review meeting of the Agriculture Department, reports IANS.

Chouhan said giving soil health certificates to farmers will help them overcome shortage of nutrients in their soils and determine the cycle of profitable crops.

The Chief Minister also directed the Agriculture Department officials to set up laboratories for the proposed task on priority basis and chalk out a time-bound action plan to complete the process.

Chouhan said stress should also be laid on preparing and implementing district-wise schemes for increasing farmers' income through fisheries, poultry, milk production and horticulture.
