Police modernisation outlay increased

Rs 1,975 crore has been allotted for the purpose which is Rs 130 crore more over actual expenditure to be incurred in 2009-10

New Delhi: The Government of India has increased the budget allocation for police modernisation by Rs 130 crore over actual expenditure to be incurred in 2009-10.
 
The Police Department has been allocated a sum of Rs 30,000 crore under revenue and capital account for the year 2010-11in budget. The expenditure for the department is at the same level vis-a-vis 2009-10 figures.  

For police modernisation, the Finance Minister has allocated a budget of Rs 1,975 crore and this is an increase of Rs 130 crore over actual expenditure to be incurred in 2009-10.

Delhi Police has been provided Rs 2,805 crore and this is at the same level in comparison to an estimated actual expenditure in 2009-10.

Construction of housing for central police forces has been given a big boost up and an allocation of Rs 444 crore has been made in this regard.

This will be further leveraged through the proposed PPP (public private partnership) model for building large number of housing units for central police forces.

For immigration services, the government has allocated Rs 155 crore and the bulk of the amount Rs 140 crore will be spent on setting up integrated check posts in the country.

The ambitious Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and System (CCTNS) of Ministry of Home Affairs has received a generous provision of Rs 175 crore in 2010-11.
