Rs 46.21 Cr released for police modernisation

In the month of February this year the Ministry of Home Affairs released this amount to various states and UTs

New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs has released Rs 46.21 crore to various states in February, 2010 under modernisation of police forces scheme.

Till date the Ministry has released Rs 1,001.85 crore against a revised budget estimate of Rs 1,230 crore.

The UT of Dadra and Nagar Haveli has been sanctioned Rs 2.67 crore under the scheme.

In the month of February, the Ministry has sanctioned procurement of 650 hand-held thermal imagers (HHTI) for BSF from Bharat Electronics at a cost of Rs 112 crore.  
Also sanction was given for the procurement of 2,464 VHF Radio sets for BSF at a cost of Rs 11.12 crore.

The Ministry has released Rs 60.67 crore for acquisition of land and construction of buildings/barracks for central paramilitary forces. Border Security Force has been allocated Rs 35.88 crore, Assam Rifles (Rs 15.43 crore), ITBP (Rs 7.37 crore) and CRPF (Rs 1.99 crore).
    
The work with respect to computerisation of Immigration Check Posts (ICPs) has been installed in 30 of the 42 check posts. Work is also progressing on digitisation of freedom fighters pension cases. Till date 132,000 files of freedom fighters’ pension cases have been digitised.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has started direct data collection for National Population Register (NPR) in coastal villages of 8 states and 2 Union Territories.
Presently, biographical details of about 85 lakh persons and the biometric details of about 33 lakh persons have been collected so far.
